The mission of the UHRN is to analyze health care claims charges nationwide and recommend methods for setting reference benchmarks for out-of-network health care claims reimbursements. . Based at Syracuse University, UHRN includes researchers from Cornell University, the University of Rochester, the University at Albany (State University of New York - SUNY), the University at Buffalo (SUNY), and SUNY Upstate Medical University. The University of Illinois, Indiana University, the University of Colorado (Denver) and Arizona State University participate in UHRN as adjunct research institutions. The research is sponsored by Fair Health, Inc., a not-for-profit organization created to bring transparency to the establishment of these benchmarks and to educate consumers in the understanding of health care claims reimbursements.
