The Department of Economics at Syracuse
University has a national reputation of excellence in
applied microeconomic research and the analysis of public
policies. The Graduate Program reflects the Department's focus
on research in labor economics, public economics, international
trade, and urban/regional economics. Graduates of Economics lead
a wide variety of careers business and government, including
management, consulting, research and policy analysis.
The
Graduate Program in Economics at Syracuse
University emphasize the simultaneous development of a
strong grounding in economic concepts and the rigorous
application of theory to applied, policy-oriented settings. They
are structured to generate a high ratio of faculty to students,
to permit completion of degrees in a timely fashion, and to
perpetuate our excellent record in placing graduate students.
The
graduate hand book serves as an introduction to the Department's
programs for prospective graduate students, as well as
convenient reference for rules and requirements for current
students in the programs. But, in the end, it is just an
introduction. We expect the hand book to simulate additional
questions. Readers should feel free to contact the Director of
Graduate Studies, or the Department Staff.
