Partnership with Thailand
Budgeting and Financial Management are at the core of economic reform programs in most nations around the world. Budget and Financial Management are also the principle instruments used for transforming and restructuring the public sector in several countries. With the growing challenges of budgetary crises, fiscal shocks, and popular demands to improve government services - the need for enhanced budget processes and innovative financial management techniques are increasingly felt in developing countries and transitioning economies.
With more than 75 years experience offering interdisciplinary education for professional careers in public and international affairs, the Maxwell School is uniquely qualified to deliver training programs for budget analysts. Its consistent #1 ranking among graduate school in public affairs (US News & World Reports survey) is in large part a result of the School’s track-record for bringing in top-notch academics and experienced professionals with teaching and research interests in budgeting and financial management.
Maxwell delivers two four-week training programs each fall, organized to include interactive sessions with Maxwell instructors in classroom settings, site visits to relevant government agencies (city, state, and federal), and synthesizing workshops whereby project participants and instructors consider solutions to the problems the participants face in their work back home. As such, the course are a combination of theoretical concepts / techniques and practical applications based on experiences in the field.
