Exed delivers training program in Shanghai, China - Professors Walter Broadnax and David Van Slyke traveled to Shanghai, China to deliver a senior-level management training program from April 20 and April 24. The Shanghai Administrative Institute (SAI) hosted the program as part of a larger training initiative for Shanghai government officials including sixty-five senior and middle-level officials from city and sub-district agencies.
Maxwell welcomes the 2009 National Security Management Course (NSMC) - The 2009 National Security Management Course (NSMC) will be in residence for two weeks at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School beginning April 26.
IDB delegation attending workshop at Maxwell - High level staff from the Inter-American Development Bank’s regional offices throughout Latin America and the Caribbean will visit the Maxwell School April 26 – 28 for a public sector reform workshop.
Xueyi Chen defends her dissertation - Xueyi Chen, Executive Education Program's Program Manager for China Programs has successfully defended her Ph.D. dissertation on April 16th, 2009. The title of her dissertation was "Issues Obtrusiveness in in the Agenda-Setting Process of National Network Television News".
PGPPM program participant awarded gold medal - Alok Mishra, a participant of the 2007 Post-Graduate Programme in Public Policy and Management (PGPPM) program, was recently awarded the Gold Medal at the 34th IIMB Convocation Function by former Chief Justice and Chairman NHRC, M. N. Venkatchalliah.
EMPA student Benar Azez adds to the Executive Exchange series with his latest presentation on Iraq - Thank you to Mr. Benar Azez, current EMPA AmidEast/Fulbright student from Iraq, for his wonderful presentation on “New Iraq, New Hope”. This was the latest presentation of the Executive Exchange series, held on Wednesday April 8.

Leaders for Democracy Fellows Return to Maxwell - For the third consecutive year, the Maxwell School will host a group of emerging leaders from across the Middle East and North Africa for five weeks, beginning March 15.

LDF Alumni Conference in Marrakech, Morocco - On December 15 - 17 the Leaders for Democracy Fellows second annual Alumni conference will take place in Marrakech, Morocco. 28 of the 42 Fellows who attended the LDF program at the Maxwell School in 2007 and 2008 will attend.
Maxwell School Dean Mitchel Wallerstein has announced a new director of the School’s Executive Education Program - Long standing director, Bill Sullivan is assuming a new position as assistant dean for external relations. Steve Lux will replace Bill Sullivan as director of Executive Education Program.

Executive Education Welcomes Delegation from India’s National Police Academy - Executive Education hosted a delegation of officers from the National Police Academy in Hyderabad, India. Maxwell is currently in negotiations to develop midcareer training programs for senior officials in Indian Police Service.
2008 International Journalists Program - This is the third year in which the Maxwell and Newhouse Schools will be co-hosting international journalists as part of the State Department’s Edward R. Murrow Program for International Journalists. In the past, the University has hosted journalists from North African and the Middle East. This year, twelve North African journalists will be visiting the Syracuse campus, along with three interpreters.
Exed bids farewell to the 2008 IDC students - Executive Education and MAX Courses bid farewell to 16 undergraduate students and one administrator from the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) at Herzliya, Israel on September 19.
Students and staff have an introductory gathering at South Campus - The new and continuing students of the Executive Education Program Office gathered on Wednesday, September 10, at the Inn Complete on the South campus. DCP Students graduate with dual degrees - On August 1, our Defense Comptroller Program students completed their dual degrees of both an MBA and the Executive MPA with a graduation event at the Whitman School.
Welcome Executive Education's Newest Citizen! - On Wednesday July 29th, Caroline Tong, Ph.D. became a United States Citizen along with 40 others from 24 countries. U.S. District Court's Senior Judge Frederick Scullin Jr. administered in Syracuse NY.
National Security Studies in Action - As part of a Joint Leadership Program Seminar conducted by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), a team assembled as part of the National Security Studies (NSS) Program presented a two-day simulation in Washington, D.C. in July for 23 participants representing many of the 16 intelligence agencies in the federal government.
Master in Social Science (MSSc) Students attend two week residency at Maxwell School - For two weeks in July, the Executive Education Programs welcome the MSSc students to the Maxwell School for a two week Residency from July 14—July 25.
Over 100 Mid-Career Indian Administrative Service Officers Complete the Phase IV Program - Senior officers within the Indian Administrative Service, attended the Phase IV program that took place in April, May and June of this year. The program took place at the Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, an Indian government research and training institute on administration and public policy.
Tsinghua University’s School of Public Policy and Management wins award for its Executive Masters of Public Administration (EMPA) program - Tsinghua University’s School of Public Policy and Management (SPPM) received one of Tsinghua Unviersity’s forty first-prize awards for its Executive Masters of Public Administration (EMPA) program. Tsinghua University’s EMPA and Maxwell jointly organize a two-week program on “international public administration”.
Joint program completed in Korea - The Maxwell School has just completed a joint training program with the KDI School of Public Policy and Management for a delegation of over 100 senior officials from the Government of India.
Leaders for Democracy Fellows complete their 12 week program - Graduation ceremonies were held on June 6th for the twenty Fellows from 10 countries in the Middle East who participated in the Leaders for Democracy Fellows program.
 
Congratulations to our newly graduated Executive MPA and Certificate Students! - Around twenty EMPA and Certificate graduates took part in the Maxwell Convocation on May 10, 2008. The event took place in the Grant Auditorium of the Law College and began at 2pm. Catherine Gerard, our Associate Director was the Convocation speaker. A number of colleagues joined the festive event to cheer on their friends. 
 
Dean Mitchel Wallerstein visits China, meets with E-MPA and Executive Training graduates in Beijing and Shanghai - As part of Dean Wallerstein’s recent visit to China, he met with graduates of the Executive -Masters of Public Administration degree program in Beijing. During his trip to Shanghai, he met with a number of government officials who completed a program at Maxwell in the Fall of 2005.
 
NSS hosts 41 participants for the National Security Management Course 2008 - The 2008 National Security Management Course was in session from April 27 to May 9 at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University. This year’s course featured 41 participants from across the United States and abroad.
 
Leaders for Democracy Fellows head to Washington, DC - The twenty Fellows from 10 countries in the Middle East who arrived at the Maxwell School on March 17th as part of the Leaders for Democracy Fellows program (funded by the U.S. Department of State's Middle East Partnership Initiative) headed to Washington DC this past weekend.
Phase IV Program in India - Maxwell School’s Executive Education Program and the Center for Public Policy at IIM Bangalore welcomed 114 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers to an 8-week policy analysis and public management training program.
EMPA student Xiaoping Liu presents at the Executive Exchange Program - On March 4 at Executive Exchange EMPA student Xiaoping Liu presented "Developing Adaptive Leadership". Xiaoping discussed the changing world the need for adaptive leadership. She recounted from her own experiences in China and the UN mission to explain the importance of adaptive leadership.
Exed to Host 20 Emerging Leaders from Middle East - Twenty emerging leaders from 12 countries in the Middle East arrived at the Maxwell School today as part of the Leaders for Democracy Fellows program funded by the U.S. Department of State's Middle East Partnership Initiative. The program, now in its second year with plans for a third underway.
EMPA/DCP student Victor M. Castillo wins the Major Henry Ofeciar Award for Leadership - The award, presented to the DCP student who has displayed leadership qualities, selfless support to other students, and support and participation in the Whitman, was awarded to current EMPA/DCP student Victor M. Castillo on February 1, 2008.
Exed Welcomes Spring 2008 EMPA Students - Executive Education would like to welcome the Spring 2008 EMPA students to Maxwell! The six new students have widely diverse backgrounds and are wonderful additions to the EMPA program.
LDF Alumni Conference in Cairo - On December 10 - 12 the Leaders for Democracy Fellows first annual Alumni conference will take place in Cairo Egypt. 17 of the 22 Fellows who attended the LDF program at the Maxwell School in 2007 will attend.
The Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore (IIMB) visits Maxwell - IIMB and Maxwell are jointly developing the Phase IV program for the Government of India. Professor Gopal Naik and Professor Chiranjib Sen visited Maxwell for a three-day retreat to plan the 2008 Phase IV program.
The Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Maxwell School ink MoU - The purpose of the program is to offer selected Seoul Metropolitan Government mid-career civil servants the opportunity to complete an Executive Master of Public Administration (EMPA).
Senior level delegation from Ministry of Personnel, China visits Maxwell School - In response to the People Republic of China's interest in reform, a senior level delegation from the Ministry of Personnel is visiting the United States us to learn more about our civil servant systems, performance management, and ways in which our government provides services to government employees and the public at large.
Indian Officials Participate in Korea Exposure Visit - Maxwell partnered with the KDI School of Public Policy and Management to host a delegation of IAS officers in Korea for two weeks.
Shenzhen City Government Training Program Concludes - The Shenzhen City Government Delegation completed their study program on Rule of Law and Oversight in City Governance. The group spent three weeks in Syracuse and then a full week in Albany, NY and Washington DC.
Students from Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) Complete their Program - Sixteen students from IDC completed their program with a final presentation at the Maxwell School on October 5th.
Delegation from the Shenzhen City Government attends program on Rule of Law and Oversight in City Governance - The Executive Education department hosted a delegation of officers from the Shenzhen City Government in August and October as they attended a program on Rule of Law and Oversight in City Governance.
Executive Education works with the Korean Development Institute - Meetings were held in Seoul to plan a program that will bring over 100 senior Government of India officials to Korea to study their civil service system.
