Leaders for Democracy Fellows head to Washington,
DC
The twenty Fellows from 10 countries in the Middle East who arrived at
the Maxwell School on March 17th as part of the Leaders for Democracy
Fellows program (funded by the U.S. Department of State's Middle East
Partnership Initiative) headed to Washington DC this past weekend.
After participating in a six-week academic program at the Maxwell School
of Syracuse University, the Fellows will turn their attention to the
professional affiliation portion of the program.
Each Fellow will spend
six weeks working in public institutions as a means of gaining practical
skills and learning more about the American democratic system.
Organizational hosts include the American Enterprise Institute, Human
Rights Watch, Freedom House, and the American Federation of Teachers.
It
was a pleasure to have the Fellows on campus and we wish them success in
their time in Washington DC. Pictures
