This mini web site contains the reading materials and related links for the upcoming NSDMS I 2003 course. When you are done simply use the back button of your browser to return to the main NSS site. This course will be conducted as a Civil War Staff Ride to the Fredericksburg and Chancellorsville battlefields in Virginia, scenes of desperate fighting during the winter and spring of 1862-63. The exercise will include role-playing, lectures, and discussion on all aspects of these battles, particularly as they involve senior command relationships, the political context for military operations, and issues of responsibility and accountability.
Each participant is assigned a role to "portray" during the staff ride. Your task is to read your assignment and prepare your remarks according to the question posed for each character.
You will find the link to Role Assignments here. The document will list each class member and the role that has been assigned to him/her.
