Annual Awards in Geography
Two types of annual awards are available for graduating
seniors in geography:
National Award: National Council for Geographic Education
and the Association of American Geographers Award for Excellence of
Scholarship
This is the most distinguished award available to a
graduating senior who has achieved excellence.
(Typically the recipient has
achieved the highest GPA among graduating majors).
Two Departmental Awards:
(Honorable awards for excellence based on course work achievements)
George B. Cressey Award for Excellence
in Geography
Preston E. James Award for Excellence
in Geography
No applications are required. Recipients
are notified by
the Geography department annually in April.
