Program Support

Maxwell’s consistently high national rankings are a reflection of Maxwell’s commitment to excellence in a variety of academic disciplines. You can show your commitment to the specific programs and initiatives of Maxwell that have touched your life through a directed gift.

Why this is important
At Maxwell, theory, policy, and practice are regarded with equal seriousness: the barriers that divide academic disciplines from one another and from the larger world of public life are routinely breached by the wide-ranging scholarly and educational activities of an outstanding faculty and an exceptionally cosmopolitan student body. In the words of the Maxwell School’s Dean Mitchel Wallerstein, “Anyone who seeks to understand the strength of Maxwell needs to take into account the many advantages we derive—in all our programs—from this mix of theoretical and applied emphases."

Why Maxwell Needs YOUR Help
Continued generosity from Maxwell’s community of alumni and friends sustains us at the forefront of educating future leaders in the social sciences, public administration, and international affairs. By designating your gift for a specific program or institution at Maxwell, you can make a difference in the programs, research, and opportunities offered at each center.

Ways you can provide support for Maxwell programs
Maxwell is the only school to combine professional master's degrees with doctoral programs in the social sciences. In addition, it is the home for Syracuse undergraduates who major in the social sciences. Also for undergrads, the MAX Courses offer undergraduates cross-disciplinary courses on issues such as "Global Community" and "Critical Issues for the United States."

The Maxwell School is home to two institutes and co-sponsor, with other Syracuse University colleges, of two more. Maxwell also houses three   multidisciplinary research centers each with its own topical focus. Brief descriptions and links to each can be found here.
