Scholarships and Fellowships

When considering graduate schools, students choose the best programs that offer strong financial support. Funds to support the most deserving students’ tuition and scholarly pursuits help us maintain Maxwell’s highly rated programs, attracting the best students and reinforcing our commitment to public service and civic engagement.

Why this is important
Many of the students who attend Maxwell are motivated by a passion for public service rather than a quest for financial reward. Scholarships and other forms of financial assistance allow Maxwell to attract and retain these high-caliber students, providing them with opportunities to interact with faculty and develop their skills as future policymakers, academics, or public servants.

Why Maxwell Needs YOUR Help
Without the large endowment of many of its peer institutions, the Maxwell School must rely on gifts from alumni and friends to provide funding and support opportunities for the most deserving of these students.  Your gift can help Maxwell attract and retain these scholars and prepare them to be effective citizens, educators, and public leaders at home and abroad.

Ways you can provide support for students
Opportunities to support Maxwell students include:

  • Maxwell School Endowed Scholarship Fund. Through investment interest earned by this fund, deserving students on both the undergraduate and graduate level can receive the crucial financial assistance often needed to complete their education at Maxwell.

  • Dean’s Discretionary Fund. Contributions to this fund allow the Dean to meet critical needs, including scholarships and fellowships to attract high quality students.

  • Named Scholarship Funds. These funds, often named in honor or in memory of Maxwell faculty, use investment income to make awards in perpetuity to worthy scholars.
