The Hotchkiss Scholar

Endowed by Mr. Angelo Garzio in honor of William P. Hotchkiss. The prize provides scholarships and financial assistance to the most highly deserving graduate students.

The Hotchkiss Graduate Travel Scholarships
The Department of History awards one or two annual $4,000 travel scholarships to graduate students in history who have completed all of their requirements, comprehensive exams, and are completely ABD and are not receiving any other financial aid from the department. These awards will begin in the academic year 2000-2001.

A faculty member may nominate a student(s) for each award, or the student may apply for the award with a proposal of their research travel plans. The Graduate Committee will decide who receives the graduate student award. 

The Alan K. Smith Memorial Prize
awarded annually to the graduate student who writes the best paper.

The Nelson M. Blake Prize
A
prize which supports research by our graduate students.
