It includes the vertical strip of teal-green down the left side
of the page, with its built-in menu of links across the larger
Maxwell website. It also includes the three population-specific
links at the top of the page (along with the animated photo
strip), and the built-in address and phone
line at the bottom. Optionally, it includes a set of suggested
display-text treatments (including, for example, the brick-red
headline treatment above).
This template was
revised in January 2004 to incorporate asp-based ("dynamic") page construction.
The standard elements of the page, listed in the previous paragraph, are drawn
from a remote, common source, allowing any such elements to be revised sitewide
and simultaneously. At that time, the template also incorporated the
yellow pop-up menus visible when mousing over the side navbar.
Department-maintained
websites within the Maxwell School have the option of fully
incorporating
the Maxwell website template in their existing pages, by
adding the top, left, and bottom framing elements to
their existing pages. Most departments will choose, also,
to supplement the links in the left sidebar with a second set of
inward, site-specific links. Departments that do not wish
to display the entire list of outward, Maxwell links have the
option of collapsing those into a single menu item with pop-up;
for more information, contact Dana Cooke at 443-4667,
or
dlcooke@maxwell.syr.edu.
Departments
that do not incorporate the Maxwell template are strongly encouraged to include
components of or at least a single prominent reference to the
main Maxwell pages. Adoption of the signature colors (described
below) is a possible option. Or, at a minimum, departments are
asked to include the "Maxwell" web logo (shown at
right), linked to the main Maxwell homepage (www.maxwell.syr.edu)
and, preferably, with a text link as well (e.g., "Maxwell
School Homepage").
Policies
and Tips
The
Maxwell Website template is based on the Maxwell Logo
Program for publications. Information about fonts and the
teal-and-gray color scheme are located on the
Maxwell
Logo Program page.
Following
are recommended color equivalents for teal, warm gray, and dark
orange, in the "web-safe" palette:
Logos
for Web Use
The
following Maxwell Logos have been converted to the web-safe
colors cited above, and saved as JPG files. In addition, a
single GIF version is provided for cases where transparency in
the white section is required. To download these images, simply
right-click (Windows) or hold-click (Mac) and save to your local
hard drive.
