Tips to remember when you
are looking for housing in DC:
"Costs vary greatly depending
on a number of factors (e.g. proximity to Metro; in-town/suburbs.)
Some of our grads have had good luck in the downtown Silver Spring area
within walking distance to the Metro. A number of apartment
complexes will accept short-term leases (3-6 months)...You
should also try the
DC Maxwell
Alumni Association and the
Syracuse University
Alumni Club to inquire if anyone has a sublet or a room to rent, or
needs someone to house-sit. Also of course friends and colleagues
who have been in DC before form the core of a growing network who can
refer you to landlords."
- Michael Schneider
1st step: Check out all the sources
listed up and start your search here!
2nd step: Have a reference ready.
Most places require an application and a credit check.
Final step:
Check with the Global Programs Coordinator or Michael
Schneider to see if the location is safe and convenient before you put
down a deposit.
