Sigma
Iota Rho is a national honor society for the interdisciplinary field of
International Relations. Election to undergraduate membership in our local
chapter, Alpha Chi, shall be from among such juniors and seniors of Syracuse
University who meet or exceed the following qualifications:
a. Have attained junior standing with the university (54 credit hours or
higher);
b. Have completed at least 21 credit hours of course work toward the
International Relations major, including internationally-designated courses in
anthropology, economics, geography, history, political science, sociology, and
related disciplines, of which at least three (3) courses are at the 300-level or
higher;
c. Have completed at least 12 credit hours of study in a language other than
English or have demonstrated proficiency in same;
d. Have attained a cumulative grade point average of 3.333 or higher in all
courses and a grade point average of at least 3.445 in courses in
International Relations;
e. Must maintain full-time status of at least 12 credit hours to be a voting
member or to hold an office.
Our Alpha Chi chapter of Sigma Iota Rho will hold an awards ceremony and
reception each spring to welcome new members. Sigma Iota Rho members participate
in such projects as the
United
States Military Academy's annual Student Conference on US Affairs (SCUSA) at
West Point, New York, each fall semester and the Model
United Nations conference in New York City each spring semester.

International Relations majors who meet these qualifications will be notified by
Professor Francine D'Amico, the
faculty advisor for Sigma Iota Rho Alpha Chi chapter and the Director of
Undergraduate Studies in International Relations here at Syracuse University, in
spring semester.
