Program Costs for Students Interested in MAIR Who Are US Citizens:

The summer sessions are “pre-pay” at time of registration. If a student is paying with student loans, payment is deferred until the loans become available. The Fall Semester is billed in early October, the Spring Semester in early March.

Off-campus housing is quite affordable in the Central New York area. There is availability of housing near the University. Many students share “flats” with others in the program and rents can range anywhere from $300-$700 per month depending on living arrangements, if utilities are included, etc. Cost of living data for Central New York where Syracuse University is located indicate that $1,200 a month including housing, books for courses, food, etc. makes for comfortable living.

YEAR 2 – Hertie School of Governance, Berlin and Institute of Social Studies, The Hague

Students will pay for Year 2 in euros. Costs here are estimated using a currency conversion rate of 1 US dollar is equal to .7227 euros

Living costs in Berlin are low compared to other metropolitan cities in Europe, particularly when it comes to housing. The sum we quote here is a bit higher than average to help you not underestimate costs. An estimate of minimum living costs is currently around $1,107 per month which includes housing, food, books, etc.

Costs for living expenses are approximately $1,342 per month, based on a moderate standard of living while in the Netherlands. The Institute of Social Studies (ISS) offers all students a room in the ISS hostels. Rent there is approximately $553 a month.

Stipends
Stipends of $12,000 each are available for 6 US citizens. These stipends are to cover costs of living and travel while students are in Europe during their second year of study. These stipends are funded by a grant from the US Department of Education.
