Glyn Morgan

Glyn Morgan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science and the Director of Moynihan European Research Centers at the Maxwell School of Syracuse University. Professor Morgan earned his MA at the University of California at Santa Barbara in 1982 and his Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of California at Berkeley in 2001. His book The Idea of a European Superstate: Public Justification and European Enlargement was published by Princeton University in 2005. His research interests include political philosophy, European politics--particularly the European Union--and the sociology of religion. Within political philosophy, his chief interests include the history of eighteenth and nineteenth century political thought; the ethics of international relations; nationalism; European integration; and the idea of toleration. He has published several journal articles, including “Security and Free Expression”, “Europe, Enlargement, and Enlightenment”, and “Multicultural Europe in Theory and Practice.”
Havva Karakas-Keles
Assistant Director, European Union Center
Havva Karakas Keles is Assistant Director of the Moynihan European Research Centers at the Maxwell School. She received her B.A. degree from Bogazici University, Istanbul, Turkey in 2000. She holds an M.A. in International Relations and another M.A. in Political Science. She is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Political Science Department at Syracuse University. Funded by a National Science Foundation grant, her research centers on political leadership, foreign policy decision-making and the linkages between leadership styles and institutional constraints. Her work involves a systematic comparison of prime ministerial management of foreign policy-making processes under different cabinet arrangements in parliamentary democracies. She carried out archival research in the Parliamentary Archives in Westminster and National Archives in Kew in London, UK; Federal Archives in Koblenz and the State Library in Berlin, Germany; and State Archives in Jerusalem, Israel. She currently holds a David C. McClelland Fellowship granted by Hay Group’s McClelland Center for Research and Innovation.
Juanita Horan
Assistant Director, Moynihan Institute of Global Affairs
As the Assistant Director of the Institute, Juanita Horan's scope includes analysis, planning, operations and logistics. She manages the Institute's resources. In her role she has budget oversight for grants, endowments and operations. She helps to secure funding for the Institute's programs. She is responsible for publications and promotion for the Institute including managing the website. Juanita Horan also supervises the Global Affairs staff.
