Latin America
The Program on Latin America and the Caribbean (PLACA) is planning a display that will feature academic posters covering the wide range of research topics and interests of PLACA members. PLACA has three student sub-groups, Venezuela, Colombia, and the Caribbean, which will have displays, and there will be additional posters from students in ESF, Geography, International Relations, and Public Administration. In addition to the posters, there will be live music, dancers, and video and slideshow presentations that celebrate Latin American culture. On the menu will be numerous regional dishes that demonstrate the wide variety of culinary diversity, including dishes from Mexico, the Southern Cone, the Andean region, and the Caribbean.

Specifically, we are serving Flan, Arroz con Leche, Empanadas (Pollo y Carne), Tamales, Fried Yuca, Patacones (Green Plantain Chips), Carne con Salsa Caribbean, Spicy Shrimp, Salsa Huancaina, Ceviche, Pernil (Roasted Pork), Chicharrones de Pollo and Tropical Juices.

South Asia
The South Asia Center will have on display cloth pillars, a 17 foot Rajasthani Phad painting displaying the pictorial story of Pabuji in about 70 narrative scenes, a sand painting meticulously made by our own students, a Dick Waghorne photo exhibit about the Rath Yatra at Jagannathpuri in Eastern India, relics from the region, a slide presentation, faculty research publications and maps of the region.

Pabuji's phad, the longest painting on display here, tells of a hunting dispute over a hare; Pabuji acquiring the supernatural mare Kesar Kalami; Gogo's wedding to Pabuji's niece Kelam; Pabuji seizing she-camels from Ravana in Lanka; Pabuji's ill-fated wedding to Phulvanti, the princess of Umarkot; Pabuji's men rescuing the goddess's cows from Khinci Rajputs; Pabuji's battle against the Bhati Rajputs and his ascent to heaven; and the story of the funeral pyres and Rupnath avenging Pabuji's death. For your culinary delight, the South Asia Center will be serving a sumptuous array of dishes from the region, including Samosas, Paneer Pakora, Chicken Seek Kabob, Chicken Malai Kabob, Gulab Jamun, Chai (beverage), Mango Lassi (beverage).

Europe
The Center for European Studies and European Union Center will have a multi-screen slide show with photos of Europe taken by artists and students, gourmet cheese and crackers accompanying italian and french wine tasting. (please be prepared to show proof of age). They will have art work from Turkey and European finger foods including: Grape Leaves, Tiropites, Greek Meatballs/Keftedes, Spinach Pie/Spanakopita, Marinated Artichokes, Greek Salad, Crispy Onion Bruschetta and Stramboli. Desserts include: Kourabiedes, Baklava and Biscotti. They will also be displaying scholarly work by Maxwell Faculty and EU Commission materials.
