Student Group

The Student Discussion Group on Transnational NGOs is a student initiative started with the support of the Transnational NGO Initiative of the Moynihan Institute in November 2005.

The objectives of this student run initiative are listed below:
  • Deepening the understanding of all participants through regular debates and discussions on key issues in the field of transnational NGOs and Civil Society.

  • Engaging with the Transnational NGO Interview Study and other research activities throughout the semester.

  • Providing a forum for interaction about student and faculty research through brown bags, panel discussions, etc.

  • Exploring and discussing career opportunities in NGOs and CSOs (Civil Society Organizations).
The group is organized in a decentralized manner, where all participants share responsibility for its activities facilitated by a coordinator. The group will meet on a regular basis and provide opportunities for discourse and learning through a series of topical discussions among students and faculty (including peer review of student research projects), interactions with visiting civil society practitioners, and a documentary film series.
