Nancy Powell, acting Assistant Secretary of State for
International Narcotics and Law Enforcement
Summary: One of America's most
experienced senior diplomats, Ambassador Powell has
served as Ambassador to Pakistan, Ghana and Uganda, and as
Deputy Assistant Secretary for African Affairs and for
Legislative Affairs. During her nearly thirty years in
the American Foreign Service, she has also served in
Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Togo, and Canada. Ambassador
Powell will share her thoughts and observations about
American interests and diplomacy in South Asia and Africa
based on her service in those regions. Later
this afternoon, at 4 pm, Ambassador Powell will speak in the
Public Events Room (Eggers 220) on current U.S. policy and
programs in Afghanistan.
