500 Hall of Languages
8.30 am
Type
of Activity: Conference
Speaking: Various Speakers
Summary:
Health care in our increasingly
globalized world is constantly changing, due in part to
factors such as the emergence of new forms of illness like
HIV/AIDS, the increased privatization of health care that
followed on structural adjustment policies in the 1980s, and
the more recent growth of medical tourism.
Two back-to-back conferences at
Syracuse University address these issues: the first examines
the intersections between gender, sexuality and HIV/AIDS
(Sept. 27-28) while the second examines the changing
landscapes of health care in modern South Asia (Sept.
28-29).
