Congratuations to Kerri Raissian, who is one of three recipients of the 2012 Emerging Scholars Award by the National Association of Schools of Public Affairs and Administration (NASPAA).  This prize is designed to recognize outstanding scholarship among Public Administration doctoral students.  In addition to a cash prize, Kerri will participate in a panel featuring the three Emerging Scholars and their graduate work at the NASPAA Annual Conference in Austin, TX in October 2012. 

Congratulations to Il Hwan Chung (2012), who received a C. Lowell Harriss Dissertation Fellowship from the Lincoln Institute for 2011-2012.  This award supports Ph.D. stduents whose research complements the Lincoln Institute's interests in land and tax policy.  More information is available at http://www.lincolninst.edu/education/c-lowell-harriss-dissertation-fellows-2012.asp

Congratulations to current Ph.D. student Kerri Raissian, who received a Doris Duke Fellowship for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect. This is a highly competitive award for doctoral students who plan to conduct research on domestic violence and will allow Kerri the opportunity to network with other scholars in this research area.  

Alejandro Amezcua received a dissertation grant from the Kauffman Foundation.  Alejandro is currently a post-doctoral scholar at the Whitman School of Management at Syracuse University.  His thesis advisors were Stuart Bretschneider and David Popp.

Alejandro Amezcua (2010) was awarded the 2011 National Federation of Independent Business Dissertation Award in Entrepreneurship and Independent Business for “Boon or Boondoggle?  Business Incubation as Entrepreneurship Policy.” The award is presented for outstanding research that deals with entrepreneurs and potential entrepreneurs; with the founding, management, growth, and development of independent new ventures; with small, family, and minority business; and/or with the support systems that help facilitate the development of such business. This is the first time the NFIB award has been made to a scholar in the field of public administration.
