MPA
PROGRAM VISITING DAYS 2008
DRIVING TO THE MAIN CAMPUS OF
SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY
Often applicants wish to visit the Maxwell School
when making their decisions regarding graduate study. While we do not require a
visit, prospective students often find these visits helpful and we are pleased
to have them join us. Additionally, Maxwell is often traveling across the US
and there are several opportunities to learn more about the MPA Program and meet
with Maxwell representatives and alumni. This flyer contains information on our
on-campus visiting days as well as these off campus events.
ON-CAMPUS
VISITING DAYS:
Monday, March 24
Monday, March 31
Monday, April 7
Visiting day sign-up form
Helpful Hints for Visitors
Each on-campus visiting day will feature an
information session with Associate Director, Christine Omolino, representatives from the office of
Career and Alumni Services and several of our current MPA students; an open and
informal lunch with current students and faculty, a tour of the facilities and
the ability to attend a class (Mondays only). Each day will begin at
9:00 a.m. in our offices and end by 5:00 p.m. at the latest (depending on class
attended). A continental breakfast and lunch will be provided.
Students may select from the following Monday
afternoon classes: State and Local Public Finance (Yinger) Economics of Science
and Technology (Popp); Ethics in Public Policy (Radcliffe); Quantitative
Analysis (Lopoo); Economic Analysis of Public Policy (Brooks); Financial Management in Non-Profit Organizations (Rubenstein);
Regulatory Law and Policy (Goldsmith); Urban Policy (Yinger); and Economics of
Environmental Policy (Popp). Social Entrepreneurship is being taught that
evening (7:00-9:45 pm) with Professor Brooks.
Current
students are willing to host out-of-town visitors overnight, preferably
for one night,
to help curb the expenses associated with a visit, and we will try to meet all
such requests. This format offers visitors the chance to not only become
acquainted with the Maxwell School, its MPA program, faculty and students, but
also with one another (your possible future classmates).
RSVP's are required! If you wish to visit on one of our on-campus
visiting days, please register online at http://www.maxwell.syr.edu/pa/form.asp
or RSVP by phone to (315) 443-4000 at least one week before the date you plan to
visit. If you will be requesting a one night overnight accommodation with
current students in Syracuse, as much notice as possible is appreciated and will
assist us in meeting your needs. If these dates are not convenient for you, and
you would still like to visit, please know that you are welcome to visit at
anytime (other than days just prior to or after one of the above scheduled
days). Please call our offices at the above number and we will be happy to
arrange an individual agenda for you. Also check local
hotels.
DRIVING TO THE MAIN CAMPUS OF
SYRACUSE UNIVERSITY
Syracuse University is the most easily
reached from Interstate 81. New York State Thruway travelers should exit at
Interstate 81 (Thruway Exit 36) and proceed south. Both northbound and
southbound travelers on Interstate 81 should exit at Adams Street (Exit 18.)
Proceed up the Adams Street hill to University Avenue and turn right. Continue
on University Avenue to Waverly Avenue. There you will find the main campus.
(For visitor parking, turn left on Waverly. You can use the Sheraton University
Hotel lot in that block or the SU lot on the next block, approximately across
the street from the large, modern Bird Library building.)
