Teaching Peace: On the
Frontlines of Non-Violence was
supported
by The Writing Program of Syracuse
University, the Program for the Advancement of Research on
Conflict and Collaboration at Syracuse University, Brown Chair in English
Literacy of Arkansas University, and the Woodrow Wilson
Foundation.
Editor Stephen Parks' in his introduction
writes, "This collection of essays demonstrates the ways in
which a commitment to peace requires individuals to build
communities that link our careers, our students, and our
neighbors around projects which make small interventions
into the local and global conflicts which define our times."
Some of the topics addressed include,
sexual violence against women, hate crimes, the Duke
Lacrosse Scandal, local anti-war organizations, local peace
advocacy, the United Nations International Day of Peace, the
founding of a Peace Research Center in Tanzania, the state
of Montana's "Indian Education for All" program.
