New Publication on Peace in Africa

A. Peter Castro, Professor of Anthropology and PARCC Affiliate, had an article published in the University of Peace book "Environment and Conflict in Africa, with Special Emphasis on Darfur" titled "Communities and Natural Resource Conflicts in Africa: Reflections on Conflict Management Options for Peace-building in Darfur".    (Click here for more information)

CNYSpeaks Hosts Mayoral Forum~
Brought together the six candidates and approximately 150 residents to the September 8 forum where the candidates answered 12 questions ranging from improving safety downtown to tearing down the elevated section of Interstate 81 through Syracuse. Learn more here

Conflict Transformation and Peacebuilding: Moving From Violence to Sustainable Peace, Edited by Bruce Dayton and Louis Kriesberg of PARCC, examines the causes of escalation and de-escalation in intrastate conflicts.  To read more click here.

Patrick Coy and Lynne Woehrle!

The co-authored article, “Discursive Legacies: The U.S. Peace Movement and 'Support the Troops',” Patrick G. Coy, Lynne M. Woehrle and Gregory M. Maney, Social Problems, 55(2), 2008, p. 161-189, just received the “Best Journal Article of 2008 Award” by the American Sociological Association’s Section on Peace, War and Social Conflict.

Atty. Datu Reza Cang Sinsuat (EMPA, 2008) is a senior officer at the Southern Philippines Development Authority (SPDA).  He recently met with Archbishop Orlando V. Quevedo, the newly appointed  head of the task force that will manage reconstruction of the Mindanao River basin.
