Education - Skills Development
The advent of the Internet, an increased emphasis on globalism and the proliferation of network theory, among other developments, have profoundly changed the business of government. Today, public managers are not merely serving as unitary leaders of unitary organizations, but as facilitators, negotiators, and collaborators in a multi-organizational environment. Many managers, however, find themselves ill-equipped to lead effectively in such a setting. In response to this growing need, PARC offers a variety of educational programs aimed at equipping the next generation of public leaders with the skills of negotiation, bargaining, and conflict resolution. Additionally, in the Summer of 2007 we
launched a cutting-edge, digital resource aptly named E-PARC. This website
is a clearinghouse of materials related to collaborative public management, collaborative governance, and collaborative problem solving. E-PARC represents one facet of PARC's growing commitment to education and the practical application of scholarship.
