Conflic/uploadedImages/parcc/blog/C Gerard.jpgt Styles and Reflective Listening

What kind of conflict style do you have?  How does it impact the way in which you deal with conflict? This training explains various conflict styles and helps you understand how you and others react to conflict.  It also offers a powerful tool to deal with emotions associated with interpersonal conflict – reflective listening.  Reflective listening helps address these high emotions in order to allow “room” to address the conflict.  Add these two tools to your conflict management toolbox in an interactive, participatory workshop format. The training lasts for 4-5 hours and includes discussions, individual self-assessments, and group exercises.

Interest-Based Problem-Solving

This training is a follow-up to the first Conflict Styles and Reflective Listening training.
Interest-based problem-solving (IBPS) training gives you additional tools to be able to resolve conflicts. IBPS provides the opportunity to see the values of another disputing party without having to jeopardize your own interests or values.  If positions are the what of a conflict; interests are the why.  This workshop training focuses on designing structures, processes, and describes the most important tools to utilize when working with Interest-Based Problem Solving.

  Facilitation

This is a comprehensive training in how to assist small groups to work together within a structured setting.  The training introduces participants to the basics– the what, where, when, why and how of facilitation. This workshop prepares participants for all of CMC’s facilitation activities including CNYSpeaks, the nonpartisan, nonprofit effort that seeks to spark constructive conversations with Central New Yorkers about critical issues in the region.   Facilitation training lasts for 3-4 hours and includes discussions, demonstrations and multiple group exercises.

Communicating in a Cross-Cultural Environment: Skills for Living and Working in a Multi-Cultural World

This training takes into consideration the fact that we live in a world of many cultures and perspectives.   This multi-cultural aspect can sometimes be a source of misunderstanding, miscommunication and conflict.  This workshop considers some of these concepts such as:

  • Individual vs. collective societies
  • Monochromic vs. polychromic concept of time
  • Direct vs. indirect style of communication
  • Cultural stereotypes

This workshop training lasts for 4-5 hours and includes theory, demonstrations, discussions, individual self-assessments, and group exercises.
