Syracuse University
Economics Club

PURPOSE

Formally stated, the purposes of the Economics Club are:

  • ·   To be a resource for all students, regardless of college enrollment or degree type, but especially for those pursuing an economics major or minor, or taking elective economics courses for self-enrichment.

  • ·   The club serves as a network base for students to communicate about issues concerning graduate education in economics; future employment given economics training; the flexibility an economics background provides in supporting one’s future endeavors; current topics which have economic relevance or impact; and informal, entertaining methods of dispersing knowledge of economics.

  • ·   The goal of the club as an entity is to attract students with an interest in economics, to provide more information about the scope of the subject’s many areas of study and the overall profession, to retain students who desire to enhance their economic learning and advance in various areas, to promote interest in economics and inform students who were otherwise unaware of the benefits of economics as a field of study.

  • ·   The purpose of the Economics Club is not limited to the above guidelines, but  they are considered to be the core guidelines for the Club.

While specific activities of the club can always be expanded or contracted, the general objectives outlined should remain. We have formed these guidelines generally describing what the Economics Club is all about based on our experiences as club members and co-leaders, and through discussions with other members.
