Hi. I'm Daniel and I'm a junior from Buffalo, New York studying Political Science and Citizenship and Civic Engagement with a minor in Entrepreneurship and Emerging Enterprises. While participating in the Spring 2018 Maxwell-in-Washington Program, I spent my time interning on the Hill with Congressman Brian Higgins (NY-26).
I have enjoyed attending Congressional briefings and hearings on a variety of topics. I was enthused to learn from brilliant, well-educated professionals and organizations. One of my favorite events I attended was about the unity of the US with Japan and Korea, discussed by individuals including Dr. John Park, Director of the Korea Working Group and an Adjunct Lecturer at the Harvard Kennedy School. Additionally, I interacted with other staff members on the Hill as a liaison for my office. I plan to continue my education in graduate school, immediately after completing my undergraduate studies at the Maxwell School. My passion for youth empowerment can be seen throughout my work in both high school and college, and will serve me well as I fulfill my future goals.
My favorite part of living in DC is the plethora of opportunities at hand. My journey here has reaffirmed my passion to serve the public and our country. I have made many new friends, connections, and memories, and am excited for what is to come. My advice for incoming students is to be prepared, as to make the most out of one's time in DC.
