My name is Kailee Vick. I am an International Relations major and Political Science minor. I am a junior and I am graduating May 2021. I am interning for the office of Congressman Joseph Morelle this semester. Congressman Morelle works to serve the constituents of New York’s 25th district, encompassing the city of Rochester and surrounding suburban areas.
As an intern, I have conducted research, wrote memos, and attended briefings, meetings, and hearings for our legislative staff. I also improved constituent relations by giving tours, answering calls, and maintaining the front office. I knew that I wanted to intern on Capitol Hill and I figured that interning for my own Congressman to understand how policy impacts constituents would be a great starting point. My favorite part about my internship is all of the great events and briefings I had access to on the Hill as well as just working in the historic Capitol Hill complex. I hope to gain a clearer insight into my own academic and career interests, develop knowledge about a variety of policy issues, and see if a career in public service is the right fit for me.
