'19 (IR/PSC)

Léa interned at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, while participating in the Maxwell-in-Washington Undergraduate Program in Spring 2017.

I am current exchange student from France studying international relations and political science. I interned for the Human Rights Initiative Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. It is a nonprofit policy research organization dedicated to providing strategic insights and policy solutions to help decision-makers.

My internship focused on countering violent extremism through education in the United States and Europe. I am very glad I was able to use my French skills to help the team on researching education in France. This experience allowed me to know I would like to feel useful in the future and in my career. Working on the Human Rights and refugees initiatives inspired me to dedicate my career in helping others.

I feel very lucky to have been able to participate in this program as an exchange-student. Before being in DC, I didn’t know anything about think-tanks and the global decision making process in the United States. I think it is one of the most rewarding experience I could have asked for in my life.

Future students, do not hesitate to do the Maxwell in Washington program. You will meet people and discover places that will surely affect your life!
