Ozoda interned at the National Defense University Center for Technology & National Security Policy, while participating in the Maxwell-in-Washington Undergraduate Program in Spring 2017.

I am a junior from Tashkent, Uzbekistan studying international relations with a concentration on international security and diplomacy and a regional focus in the Middle East. I interned for the National Defense University Center for Technology & National Security Policy, a center that focuses on investigating the implications of technological innovation on US national security policy and military plans through close work with the science and technology community.

I liked my internship at NDU. I was able to talk about the current events and US foreign policy with high ranking military officials and former ambassadors. I attended seminars and events that NDU hosts and network! I was also able to create a research paper on Russia and Iran and US sanctions.

This internship guided me through several future opportunities that I never considered before. Now that I know what I want, I also know that there are many ways to get there. I definitely see myself working in the foreign service sector. Maxwell in DC pushed me to network and to branch out. I learned a lot about myself and my strengths. Interning at NDU made me consider regional areas I had never studied before and to welcome all kinds of opportunities.

Future DC students: DC has a lot to offer! The people, museums, happy hours, events, and weather are very nice! Hit up the museums and NETWORK!
