My name is Johnny and I am a senior from Boston studying International Relations and Economics. I am currently interning for the International Executive Service Corps. IESC is a nonprofit organization dedicated to equitable, sustainable economic growth in developing countries. We believe that a robust private sector is the cornerstone of resilient economies and stable countries, and since 1964 IESC has strengthened small and medium enterprises around the world. We work in the areas of market linkages, finance and investment, business enabling environment, market-led agriculture, workforce development, and institutional capacity building.
I truly enjoy the internship I have with the Economic Growth and Trade Program at IESC. My duties are provide general administrative support to practice area overseas programs, including communication, research, programmatic and financial reporting; information managements, manage and evaluate database and conduct research in support of new business initiatives. I am blessed to have some hands-on experience in terms of working with USAID, State Department and USDA at a non-profit organization.
Participating in the Maxwell in Washington Program has given me the opportunity to meet with incredible people from different fields. It was such a blessing to have amazing guest speakers every week who have offered me advice on how to pursue my career goals and make a positive impact to our society. The fact I had chances to visit different embassies and to hear people from different backgrounds discussing the global issues was really an eye-opening experience to me.
