The International Relations Program provides numerous opportunities for students to engage with current issues and research in international affairs. Guest speakers include SU faculty, researchers from academic or research institutions, alumni, and practitioners of international affairs.
Featured Speakers brings academics and practitioners from other institutions to the Maxwell School. These events include public lectures, book signings, receptions, and small group seminars for IR students.
Conversations in IR is an opportunity to connect students with faculty, alumni, practitioners, and other students in informal discussion sessions. These brown bag lunch events take place in the IR Conference Room throughout the academic year.
The Professional Development Series is designed to provide International Relations students with resources to aid them in their pursuits after undergraduate study. Working with SU Careeer Services, Maxwell graduate program staff, and alumni, students have opportunities to strengthen their resume and cover letter writing skills, learn about networking, and explore strategies for job searching or applying to graduate school.
The Spotlight Series grows out of our annual celebration of International Women's Day. By placing a spotlight on particular places and events around the globe, we bring into focus challenges to human security and the reach of international law.
A number of other events take place in and around the International Relations office throughout the year. We also collaborate with other programs to provide access to guest speakers, research institutions outside Syracuse University, and activities taking place off campus.
