Model United Nations: An Outstanding Opportunity

There are two opportunities for students to participate in Model United Nations here at Syracuse University.

The first is Model United Nations (MUN) Club.

The MUN Club is open to all interested students and meets year-round. Learn more about the United Nations as well as debate techniques, conference procedures, resolution writing and negotiation.  Participate in a simulation of representing a country and learn about their history, politics, culture, and foreign policy.

No application is necessary. Just come to the meetings and get involved.

The second is the Model United Nations Team.

The MUN Team is open to any undergraduate student who has formally declared a major in International Relations and has a GPA of 3.0 or higher.

The MUN Team offers students a unique opportunity to engage in current international problems and work collaboratively to seek a solution. Through this program, students participate in team-building exercises, practice diplomacy, strengthen interpersonal and negotiation skills, and develop leadership capabilities as they represent their country's interests in various committees and on a wide array of issues.

Students earn academic credit for their participation at the National Model United Nations Conference in New York City at UN Headquarters during the spring semester.

Applications are distributed electronically through our International Relations listserv during the fall semester.
