Building a Revitalized Central Asian Neighborhood 

“Building a Revitalized Central Asian Neighborhood” will be a unique opportunity for the Syracuse community to learn about the importance of US foreign policy in the region from DAS Henry Ensher in his new position as Acting Deputy Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asian Affairs. DAS Ensher’s previous assignments include Chief of Mission at the U.S. Mission to International Organizations in Vienna; Ambassador of the United States to Algeria (2011-2014); Senior Civilian Representative-South at Kandahar Air Field, Afghanistan (2010-2011); Director of the Office of Afghanistan Affairs (2008-2010); Political Advisor at Central Command (2007-2008); Chair of Near East and North Africa Area Studies and Coordinator for Iraq and Afghanistan Provincial Reconstruction Team training at the Foreign Service Institute (2006-2007); Deputy Political Counselor in Baghdad, Iraq (2004-2005); and Governance Coordinator in Qadisiyah Province, Iraq (2003-2004). He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.

His public address will be followed by Q&A and a reception and poster session hosted by the Moynihan’s new Central Asia and the Caucasus Research Group.
