 the Vietnam War\, Doug Hostetter refused the draft but volunteered to do h
 is Conscientious Objector\nservice in Vietnam. From 1966 to 1969\, under t
 he auspices of the Mennonite\nCentral Committee\, he did literacy work wit
 h Vietnamese children\nwhose schools the war had destroyed. After Vietnam\
 , Hostetter joined the U.S. anti-war movement and served as a member of th
 e 1970 U.S.\nNational Student Association delegation to Vietnam that negot
 iated the People’s\nPeace Treaty\, a peace treaty concluded between U.S. s
 tudents and students in\nboth South Vietnam and North Vietnam. He has cont
 inued ever since to engage in active nonviolent peacebuilding with\n“enemi
