 le and lasting peace on the Korean Peninsula.&nbsp\;Alexander Ilitchev is 
 a senior fellow at the Mansfield Foundation. He is a career diplomat with 
 extensive experience in the prevention\, mediation\, and resolution of arm
 ed conflict\, most recently with the United Nations Secretariat where he b
 egan his career in 1992. As a senior officer in the Department of Politica
 l Affairs\, Ilitchev covered various UN sanctions regimes and worked on in
 ternational crises and conflicts. From 1997-2014\, he was Northeast Asia t
 eam leader with the Asia and the Pacific Division. Prior to joining the Un
 ited Nations\, Ilitchev served continuously in the Russian Foreign Ministr
 y from 1974-1992. He holds an MA in International Relations and an MA in J
 ournalism from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations. In a
