DESCRIPTION:Mr. Rudman will discuss the U.S. – Mexico relationship\, perhap
 s the most impactful bilateral relationship on a day to day basis\, throug
 h the lens of trade with particular focus on the United States\, Mexico\, 
 Canada Agreement (USMCA). Economic\, societal and technological changes in
  all three North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) countries over the 
 quarter century of its existence drove a need to update and modernize the 
 agreement. The product of this update process was the USMCA which entered 
 into force on July 1\, 2020. Following a review of the evolution of the tr
 ade relationship\, Rudman will discuss how the impact of USMCA implementat
 ion on the overall US-Mexico bilateral relationship across a range of issu
 es including trade\, migration\, energy and environment\, and labor policy
 . The talk will conclude with projections for the future of USMCA and the 
 bilateral relationship.Andrew I. Rudman is the Director of the Wilson Cent
 er's Mexico Institute. Before joining the Wilson Center\, Andrew was Manag
 ing Director at Monarch Global Strategies (Monarch)\, a boutique strategic
  advisory firm located in Washington\, D.C. and focusing on government rel
 ations and market entry/access for companies interested in doing business 
 in Mexico and other Latin American countries. Andrew managed Monarch’s hea
 lthcare practice and supported clients across a range of sectors and inter
 ests. He also writes and speaks on Mexican healthcare policy issues.Prior 
 to joining Monarch in 2014 (then known as ManattJones Global Strategies)\,
  Mr. Rudman was Deputy Vice-President for the Western Hemisphere at the Ph
 armaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA) (2007 – 2014) w
 here he was responsible for developing and executing policy advocacy strat
 egies for member companies across the hemisphere with particular focus on 
 Mexico and Brazil. He also covered Canada and Russia at various times duri
 ng his tenure. Mr. Rudman began his professional career with the U.S. Gove
 rnment and served in the Department of State as a tenured Foreign Service 
 Officer (1991 – 2001) followed by the Department of Commerce (2001 – 2006)
  where he was Director of the Office of NAFTA and Inter-American Affairs.&
 nbsp\; His government and private sector experience allow him to provide g
 uidance for development of government relations strategies especially for 
 the healthcare industry including drug\, device\, and supplement manufactu
 rers facing regulatory and market access/approval challenges.&nbsp\; Mr. R
 udman has a master’s degree in Latin American Studies from Tulane Universi
 ty and a bachelor’s degree in Government and Spanish from Colby College. H
