  cultural diﬀerences are often portrayed as serving as barriers to eﬀectiv
 e communication. Cross-cultural interactions oﬀer enormous opportunities f
 or mutual learning\, but cultural diﬀerences are also seen as sparking or 
 exacerbating conﬂicts from the inter-personal to the global levels. Whethe
 r from a career or personal perspective\, one needs a sophisticated and se
 nsitive understanding of culture and cultural diﬀerences. For those intere
 sted in conﬂict management in our increasingly globalized and multi-cultur
 al society\, such awareness and appreciation are essential. &nbsp\;This wo
 rkshop will seek to provide knowledge and skills that will help you commun
 icate and act more eﬀectively cross-culturally. We will introduce cutting-
 edge ideas about the nature of culture and its relationship to eﬀective co
 mmunication. Attention will be placed on developing and practicing skills 
 that will aid in cross-cultural analysis and interactions. The workshop wi
 ll be interactive with simulations and participatory activities.&nbsp\;&nb
 sp\;The workshop will be presented by Dr. Peter Castro\, Associate Profess
