DESCRIPTION:Lutz Krebs is a political scientist with a focus on internation
 al relations and conflict research. Having completed graduate degrees in e
 conomics\, political science and humanitarian assistance\, he focused on s
 tudying the impact of democratization processes on the likelihood of civil
 -war onset in ethnically heterogeneous countries as part of the Swiss Nati
 onal Center of Competence in Research “Challenges to Democracy in the 21st
  Century”. He has collaborated in the development of a new coding method f
 or democratization periods and contributed to the launch of the peer-revie
 wed journal Living Reviews in Democracy.At Maastricht University (UM) and 
 United Nations University (UNU)\, Krebs serves as the education director f
 or the M.Sc. program in Public Policy and Human Development. Moreover\, he
  lectures at Maastricht Graduate School of Governance\, Maastricht Economi
 c and Social Research Institute on Innovation and Technology and the Schoo
 l of Business and Economics\, and serves as Dutch member on the Management
  Committee for the EU COST action “European Network for Conflict Research”
