 Each CMC workshop provides theory-based\ncontent and practice-proven skill
 s\, providing participants with both a\nfoundation and a springboard for b
 uilding his or her personal and professional\ncapacities in conflict trans
 formation and group facilitation. The Basic\nTraining workshop is composed
  of two parts: \n\n9 a.m.-1 p.m.: Basic\nTraining Part 1: Conflict Styles 
 and Reflective Listening&nbsp\;\nWhat kind of conflict style do you have?\
 nHow does it impact the way in which you deal with conflict? Understanding
  the\nvarious conflict styles can help bridge understanding in how you and
  others\nreact to conflict. Also learn a powerful tool that can help deal 
 with emotions\nassociated with interpersonal conflict- reflective listenin
 g. RL helps address\nthese high emotions in order to allow 'room' to addre
 ss the conflict. Add these\ntwo 'tools' to your conflict management toolbo
 x in an interactive\,\nparticipatory workshop format.\n\n1 p.m.-3:30 p.m.:
  Train the Trainer:\nFirst Year Forum&nbsp\;\nThis session\, which will be
  held immediately after Basic Training Part 1\, will\ntrain interested vol
 unteers who attend the morning session on being a CMC\nAssociate for SU's 
 First Year Forum (FYF) and other workshops throughout the\nacademic year. 
 The FYF initiative helps freshmen gain the knowledge and skills\nfor a mor
 e successful college career. It involves small groups of freshmen who\nmee
 t with a faculty member on a regular basis on a variety of topics. One of\
 nthe options for FYF is an approximately 1-hour workshop on the basics of\
 nconflict management- and the requests are already pouring in! We will cov
 er\neverything you need to know in order to be a trainer using this CMC-de
 veloped\ncurriculum. \n\n\nProf. Catherine Gerard\, Director of\nthe Progr
 am for the Advancement of Research on Conflict and Collaboration\n(PARCC) 
 at Maxwell School\, Syracuse University\, will be leading both workshops.&
