DESCRIPTION:With the acceleration of interdependence from globalization\, a
n arena of collective action—often branded by the term global governance—h
as emerged to address a wide spectrum of complex and transnational public
policy issues. The management of global governance issues and the implemen
tation of global public policy present a new sphere of public administrati
on beyond the nation-state\, and a new set of challenges for national and
local governments. In this context\, there is a need for greater attention
to the important role of the leadership competency of public sector admin
istrators effectively engaging in global concerns of finance\, development
 \, security\, health\, environment\, migrations\, science\, and technology
. \n&nbsp\;\nThe aim of this workshop is to help shape public administrati
on scholarship by bringing together 40 junior and senior scholars from dif
ferent nations and disciplines (public administration\, nonprofit organiza
 tions\, political science\, international relations\, area studies\, econo
mics\, law\, and international business) to advance research relevant to t
he administration of collective action in the global governance arena. \n&
nbsp\;\nTogether we will discuss\, critically engage\, and bring together
empirical insights related to the administration of formal and informal in
stitutions\, mechanisms\, relationships\, and processes between and among
states\, markets\, citizens\, and organizations that comprise the global g
overnance landscape. In addition\, we will build professional networks and
develop ideas for research that will stimulate opportunities for future c
 ollaborative work.
