 ited States and the rest of the world. What is the capacity of Chinese sch
 olars and policy specialists in terms of American studies and internationa
 l relations studies? Based on recent surveys of these two fields\, this ta
 lk addresses the questions of what are China’s interests\, where are the g
 aps\, and how should the U.S. and other countries respond? Terry Lautz is 
 a visiting professor at Syracuse University’s Maxwell School and former vi
 ce president of the Henry Luce Foundation.&nbsp\;&nbsp\; He conducted a re
 view of American studies in China during 2009-10 for the Ford Foundation\,
  and was a public policy scholar at the Woodrow Wilson Center in Washingto
 n\, DC in 2010. Dr. Lautz holds degrees from Harvard and Stanford Universi
 ty.
