 and a fuller\nunderstanding of the areas\, regions\, or countries in which
  that language is\ncommonly used. The Moynihan Institute of Global Affairs
  at Syracuse\nUniversity's Maxwell School houses the South Asia Center thr
 ough which these\nfellowships are administered.&nbsp\; \n\nEligibility is 
 restricted to\nundergraduate and graduate students who are U.S. citizens o
 r permanent\nresidents AND who are enrolled full-time in a program of stud
 y at Syracuse\nUniversity that includes intensive foreign language and are
 a studies coursework\nor dissertation work that is enhanced by foreign lan
 guage training.&nbsp\; Graduate students pursuing PhDs must have at\nleast
  intermediate proficiency.&nbsp\;\nProfessional graduate students wanting 
 to take language courses at the\nintroductory level will have their cases 
 examined on a case-by-case basis by\nthe U.S. Department of Education.&nbs
 p\; Undergraduate\nstudents with sufficient prior training to take an inte
 rmediate or advanced\nlevel of the language for which they are applying ar

 ram provides for tuition\nup to $5\,000 and a stipend of $2\,500 for inten
 sive (6 or 8 weeks) study in the\nUnited States or abroad at the intermedi
 ate or advanced level in any South\nAsian language at approved South Asian
