DESCRIPTION:The\nRohingya people have been in the news because of the ongoi
ng violence and\npersecution in the Rakhine State of Myanmar\, on the nort
h western coast.\nHundreds of thousands have fled to neighboring Banglades
h and the United\nNations\, Human Rights Watch\, and many other internatio
nal organizations have\ndrawn attention to the refugee crisis. Much less a
ttention has focused on the\nchallenges faced by Rohingya living in other
parts of Myanmar and what their\nexperiences reveal about the intersecting
  identities of race\, religion\, and\ngender. As a well-educated Rohingya
woman whose parents moved to Yangon as\nchildren\, Kyaw Thein will share h
er personal story of coming to adulthood in\nthe midst of discrimination a
nd growing anti-Muslim and anti-Rohingya\nsentiment. The current crisis ha
s led her to explore her family’s history and\nreflect on her own experien
ces as she strives to create a future for herself.\n\n&nbsp\;Sponsored by
