\n Sovereign Atonement and the\n Making of Showcase Ci
tizens Along the Borders of Bangladesh and India\n Drawing on the\n
experiences of India’s former border enclave residents inside\n
Bangladesh after their exchange in 2015\, Dr. Ferdoush contends that
the\n Bangladesh state took extraordinary measures in incorporating
them as\n citizens. Such exceptional measures resulted in a catego
ry of citizens\n that cannot be fully grasped with the existing voc
abulary of\n citizenship. He offers the idea of sovereign atonement
to comprehend\n the extraordinary measures undertaken by the state
while showcase\n citizens refer to an exceptionally treated group
who became subjects of\n special attention in certain spaces during
a specific time. The key to\n understanding such exceptional treat
ments and special attention lies in\n our readings of post-colonial
  territory and state-making\, sovereign\n in/exclusion\, and perfor
 mative governmentality.\n &nbsp\;\n&nbsp\;\n \n \n
