 Gretchen Ritter for a discussion reflecting on his legislative record\, th
 e polarized political climate and his experience during his eight years in
  Congress.&nbsp\;Katko was elected to Congress in November 2014 to represe
 nt the 24th Congressional District of New York\, which includes Onondaga\,
  Cayuga and Wayne Counties and the western portion of Oswego County. In hi
 s first term in office\, as chair of the House Homeland\n    Security pane
 l’s subcommittee on transportation security\, the representative sponsored
  27 bills\, 13 of which passed and two of which were enacted.&nbsp\;In 202
 0\, the Lugar Center of Georgetown University ranked Katko the second most
  bipartisan member of the House of Representatives based on his support fo
 r legislation that has won the backing of Democrats and Republicans in Con
 gress. In 2021\, the Center\n    for Effective Lawmaking\, a collaboration
  between Vanderbilt University and the University of Virginia\, ranked Kat
 ko as the third most effective House Republican.&nbsp\;A former federal pr
 osecutor\, Katko was just one of 10 Republicans who bucked the partisan tr
 end and voted to impeach President Donald J. Trump for “incitement of insu
 rrection” leading into the Jan. 6\, 2021\, attack on the Capitol. He and a
 \n    dozen colleagues from the Republican Governance Group\, which he cha
 irs\, were among the 13 House Republicans who voted for the Infrastructure
  Investment and Jobs Act of 2021.Katko serves as ranking member on the Hou
 se Committee on Homeland Security and as a member of the House Committee o
 n Transportation and Infrastructure. He announced in January that he will
