DESCRIPTION:The Maxwell Policy Research Symposium will address the issues o
f long term care insurance and services in the US. Many argue that our cur
rent long term care system is inadequate\, inefficient\, and unfair. The C

the health reform legislation that was signed into law earlier this year\
, represents a possible step toward a more comprehensive and uniform syste
m.Leading scholars from the United States and Europe will assess the prosp
ects for moving toward more comprehensive coverage of long term care servi
ces in the US. Madonna HarringtonMeyer and Douglas Wolf (SU) and Nancy Fol
bre (University of Massachusetts--Amherst) are co hosting the event. Paper
s presented at the Symposium will be compiled in an edited volume for late
r publication. This event is free and open to the public. Seating is limite
