 John left his 20-year career as a federal prosecutor to run for public off
 ice because he believed Central New York deserved strong\, independent lea
 dership in Washington. He was first elected to represent the 24th Congress
 ional District in the U.S. House of Representatives in November 2014. He w
 as re-elected for a fourth term in November 2020. &nbsp\;In Congress\, Joh
 n serves as Ranking Member on the House Committee on&nbsp\;Homeland Securi
 ty and as a member of the House Committee on Transportation &amp\; Infrast
