DESCRIPTION:Open access is changing the academic publishing landscape. Dyla
 n Mohr\, Open Scholarship Librarian at Syracuse University\, will cover th
 e different forms of open access publishing\, why some journals charge aut
 hors to make their work open access\, and how you can leverage local agree
 ments and funds to cover those costs. While most conversations on open acc
 ess center on academic journals\, he will also discuss open access monogra
 ph publishing and thesis/dissertation options. Participants will leave wit
 h an understanding of the different approaches to publishing open access a
 s well as how to build this new publishing model into their research proje
 cts and scholarly goals. Dylan Mohr is the Open Scholarship Librarian and 
 Syracuse University. He provides support to scholars seeking to publish th
 eir work open access\, the institutional repository (SURFACE)\, and other 
 publishing related initiatives. He is also part of the Digital and Open Sc
 holarship team in the Department of Research &amp\; Scholarship. Prior to 
 joining SU in March of 2022\, Dylan was a visiting assistant professor at 
 Gustavus Adolphus College\, the Program Manager for the Center for Austria
 n Studies at the University of Minnesota\, and the assistant editor of Cul
 tural Critique.
