DESCRIPTION:The Maxwell African Scholars Union Graduate Student Summer Rese
 arch Grants&nbsp\;This year the Maxwell African Scholars Union (MASU) will
  grant awards to graduate students of up to $2\,500 to support field resea
 rch in sub-Saharan Africa during the summer of 2015. The purpose of the aw
 ard is to provide students the opportunity to develop field experience\, w
 hether to gather preliminary data\, make contacts\, map topics\, or increa
 se the competitiveness of future proposals for funding.&nbsp\; Any graduat
 e student enrolled in a MA or PhD program at Syracuse University may apply
 . &nbsp\;The awards are competitive and proposals are judged on the basis 
 of (i) the quality of the proposed project or research\, (ii) the organiza
 tion and thoughtfulness of the proposal\, and (iii) the appropriateness an
 d feasibility of the research or project plan in relation to the student's
  background and qualifications.&nbsp\; &nbsp\;You may apply for more than 
 one summer grant from the Moynihan Institute\, but you will not receive mo
 re than one in a given year from the Institute.&nbsp\; Awards are ranked s
 eparately\, so if your proposal is accepted by more than one committee\, y
